The Hotel and casinos inauguration was held on the 5th August 1966, and the owners’ Jay Sarno and Stanley Mallin spent over $1 million on the event. Among the opening performers was Andy Williams and Phil Richards and it was said that from the day this Casino opened its doors, it was a mob-controlled casino.

Stuntman Knievel convinced Sarno he could jump the distance of 140 feet over the fountains in 1967, the stunt went wrong, and he landed in the hospital with a broken pelvis, concussion and several other broken bones. Frank Sinatra started performing at the Casino in 1967 after a fall out with The Sands owners; however, during a high stakes game of Baccarat, he had a run-in with the hotel executive Waterman and swore to never return or perform at Caesars again.

However, after his retirement in Jan 1974, he returned and became a frequent performer at Caesars Palace. Caesars Palace has been behind many controversies, but the most noted one is its ties to organised crime. It’s one of the most well-known and talked about land-based casinos and has also been a location for many films and TV Shows.
